Yungdron Dorje Pal (b.1284): one of the principal disciples of Buton Rinchen Drup.

With a fierce expression, holding upraised in the right hand a 'kila' dagger, he holds in the left extended outward a skullcup offered to the mouth of a wrathful red deity. Wearing the orange and red robes of a monk he also wears the red pandita hat of a scholar; seated in a relaxed posture atop a tiger skin.

At the top left is the wrathful tutelary deity Rakta Yamari standing atop a buffalo. At the right side, within a sphere of blue light, a lama wearing monastic robes and a pandita hat reads from a folio text. At the lower left are three seated monks and on the right is the wrathful wisdom protector Mahakala 'Gonpo Legden.'

This painting is from a series of portaits of the lives of the Panchen Lamas.
