Tsangyang Gyatso, 1683-1706 (tsangs dbyangs rgya mtsho) was born in the territory of Mon Tawang in March 1683, the son of Tashi Tendzin (bkra shis bstan 'dzin), a descendent of the terton (gter ston) Padma Lingpa (pad ma gling pa, 1450-1521), and Tsewang Lhamo (tshe dbang lha mo).
