Mahabhairava and Lalita are both important deities in the Hindu tradition of the Kathmandu Valley, particularly in the Shakta tradition, which focuses on the worship of the divine feminine, or ‘Shakti’. Mahabhairava is a fierce aspect of Lord Shiva, often depicted with a terrifying appearance, many heads, and many arms, symbolizing the destruction of our conventional world, as well as the destruction of ignorance and ego. He is sometimes associated with the concept of time and the eventual dissolution of the universe. In Nepal, Mahabhairava is a revered deity, particularly at the temple of Kala Bhairava which is located in Kathmandu Durbar Square. Kala Bhairava is considered the guardian deity of the city and is believed to protect it from evil forces.

Here, Mahabhairava is in union with Lalita (a form of Shiva’s consort/wife Parvati), also venerated in a particular way within the Kathmandu Valley, especially within the context of the Shri Vidya tradition. This tradition can be understood in English as 'knowledge of the goddess' and encompasses a complex system of philosophy, worship, and ritual. Here Lalita, too, holds an incredible number of weapons equipping her with the power of all of the various Hindu deities that surround the divine couple in union. The single weight-bearing foot of Lalita is supported by Nandi, atop a lotus which covers the navel of the supine figure these powerful deities trample in their stride.
关于印度教-湿婆(自在天)

Shiva is the central god of the Shaiva tradition within Indian Hinduism. He has many different appearances represented in art and based on various textual sources. Shiva also plays a minor role in early Buddhism and a greater role in the later Tantric literature. A number of Buddhist iconographic forms such as those of Lokeshvara, Chakrasamvara, Ganapati and Lha Chenpo are borrowed from the Shiva Puranas and narratives. Some traditions list eight forms or names of Shiva: Bhava, Sharva, Rudra, Pashupati, Ugra, Mahan, Bhima and Ishana.
