This thangka represents the powerful and solitary form of Vajrabhairava as Ekivira. He crushes the multitude of gods and animals spread across a golden, flaming arch. Located within the painting's upper register is a triad depicting Tsongkhapa flanked by the prismatic pure lands of Maitreya and Amitabha. Vajrabhairava is well-known among the Sakya, Kagyu, and Gelug traditions, where he is regarded as one of the most important meditational deities of Tibetan Buddhism.
