A FINE THANGKA OF THE LAST KING OF SHAMBHALA - RUDRACAKRIN, Mongolia, 19th ct., framed under glass. With the tantric deity Kalacakra embracing the wisdom partner Vishmamata on a lotus throne, surrounded by multiple kings of Shambhala. The doctrine of the Kalacakra tantra was handed down to the first king of Shambhala, Sucandra, by Buddha Shakyamuni. Sucandra transferred them to his successor and his disciples. To this day, the Kings of Shambhala are reigning in their secret realm, guarding the Dharma from disturbing influences. At the end of this kalpa of negative changes, the last regent of Shambhala, Rudracakrin, will assemble his forces and destroy his enemies, after which he will return to his kingdom, ringing in an era of justice and bliss, letting Buddhism blossom anew. - Cf.
